Garden Success from Proper Planting

By Gordon Courtright, edited by Lisa M. McMahon

Landscape Planting Guide: Garden Success from Proper Planting is published to help the home gardener choose the correct plant for any given place in his garden. Most people, when they visit a nursery, are looking for a plant for a particular place in the garden, perhaps under a three-foot window, or they will want one that will grow to a height of six feet.

In this planting guide we have arranged the plants according to the height that the plant will eventually grow. All plants, in the low, medium and tall sections, are listed alphabetically, but described only in the section in which they belong; the other listing is for reference only.

The Landscape Planting Guide contains the following information: low growing shrubs (plants that have a maximum height of three feet), medium growing shrubs (plants that attain a height of three to six feet), tall growing shrubs (plants that grow to a height of six feet or more), seashore plants, conifers, trees, vines, fruit trees and small fruits, planting disctances, drought resistant plants, ground covers, plants resistant to oakroot fungus and a cross reference of botanical and common names.
